Meet Ari

I am a ninth generation Californian with deep roots in Santa Barbara. My family’s story is part of the story of this city, and sharing it has become one of my greatest joys.

I come from the Carrillo family, one of Santa Barbara’s earliest Californio families. My family built Casa Covarrubias in 1817, one of the oldest adobes in the city. My great great grandfather was the last stagecoach driver over San Marcos Pass, and those stories have been passed down through generations.

Growing up, I didn't realize how extraordinary that history was. It wasn't until I got older that I understood the places I walked every day held stories that many visitors, and even locals, never hear.

In 2014, I founded Travel Concierge of Santa Barbara to help people experience travel in a more personal way. Over the years, I have planned everything from destination vacations and wine country escapes to private events and custom itineraries. One thing has always remained the same. I believe the best experiences are built around people, not checklists.

Experience Santa Barbara grew from that same philosophy.

These walks and experiences combine local history, family stories, food, wine, and the people who make this community so special. Whether we are wandering through downtown, sharing a meal, or retracing the old stagecoach route over San Marcos Pass, my hope is that you will leave with a deeper connection to Santa Barbara than you expected.
